The world becomes an image. Every glance, a discovery.
A landscape, a flower, the colours of a room: the thaumascope draws its spectacle from the world around you. Its optical system transforms reality into symmetrical compositions, both precise and abstract, that change as you look around.

THE PRINCIPLE
Reality as its raw material
In a kaleidoscope, patterns arise from coloured fragments inside the instrument. A thaumascope creates its images from its surroundings instead. Its colours are therefore not limited to internal elements: anything you look at can become the starting point for a new pattern.
THE APRÈS LA PLUIE APPROACH
Precision and poetry
Après la pluie developed its own optical formula to bring detailed clarity together with freely unfolding forms. Its name evokes the Greek thauma, meaning “wonder”: an invitation to rediscover surprise in familiar things.
TWO FINISHES
Paper or metal, the same curiosity.
Paper thaumascopes are dressed in marbled, floral or graphic bookbinding papers. Metal versions explore the sheen of different finishes and colours. Two distinct expressions, sharing the same pleasure of transforming what you see.
